It seems some of our posts are not showing up.

Well poor Napoleon has been to the vet a bunch of times. He started with
discharge from his nose ad they tried Baytril - no luck. They did x-rays and
a boney growth showed up in one of his sinus cavities. They put him on
steroids in the event it was some immune system problem. He seemed to be
doing ok for a while but last Sunday his behavior started to change. His
movements became more jerky and the last couple of days he has fallen over
if he moved too quickly. The vet figures the growth is now affecting his
ear.

He hasn't eaten or drank much other than some greens and treats (although he
seems hungry when he's eating those).

Our vet spoke to a specialist and he believes there is a 70-80% chance it is
a tumor (untreatbale). However, they said there is a slight possibility it
could be a type of bacterial infection that is resistant to regular
antibiotics. They have started him on a combination of two new ones to see
if that makes a dufference. If there is no improvement by mid next week, we
will have to assume it is a tumor and there are no more recommended
treatments :(.

The vet gave him some sub-q fluids and I will bring him back tomorrow for
some more. On a brighter note, I replace his water bottle will a bowl and he
did drink on his own.

It's funny, we have only had him a couple of months but it seems he has been
here for years. I feel so protective of him and have become really attached
to the little guy. Debbie is very upset - we have already lost two the past
three months and another one would be almost too much too bear.

We continue to pray for the little guy, our little chocolate Rex. Vibes and
prayers are always appreciated.

Joe (for Debbie) and the gang

Hi Joe,
What antibiotics did they put your bun on? My first thought was that it was
an abscess or some other infection. I would consider trying Duplocillin
which is two types of penicillin. I pray he gets better.

wouldn't they see a tumour in the xray? maybe he needs an ultrasound..
i bet it is just an inner ear infection and the other antibiotics will
do the trick!! crossing fingers for a quick heal.

Is he still on the steroids? That might have influenced his balance also.
All the medicine will affect his appetite greatly. See if he will pick up
eating again after all the treatment is stopped.
Is his only sickness the sneazing and some discharge from his nose? Or was
he feeling really poorly before the treatment started?

Have you tried some willow and apple leaves and sticks? He might want to eat
them.
Anyway, I hope he will feel a bit better soon, but I would definitely wait
and see what happens when all the medication is stopped. Good luck!

Napolean has been given so much to to deal with, sending well wishes
for him to get this out of him. His quality of life is probably giving
him the will and strength to get through this with his new family, and
having that spirit may help him pull through better. Vibes for all of
you. Carla Liza and Jodie.

positive and healthy vibes for Napolean to get better and that it is
