Hi to all!
I live in Ozark Mtns. and am used to seeing copperheads and water moccasins,
some green grass snakes and some king snakes. Until about a month ago, I
was terrified of snakes though neither my husband nor I would kill a snake.
He would just carefully catch it an nove it to anoher part of the property.
But, in Oct. a snake got into the clinic where my husband and I were working
and it was so beautiful! I had never seen one like it before. I have tried
for over a month to find out what it was.
It was small about 14-15" long, small-around, about 1/2" in diameter at its
largest. It was light grey background with oddly-shaped, geometric black
marks from neck to near the tail which was solid black (about 1 1/2') with
NO rattle visible. The snake had a horizontal black bar across its nose.
It was pretty gentle but it had skin that looked like velvet! Ed caught it
and we took it to Rocky Bayou and released it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what kind it may have been? Does anyone
have any idea if we did the right thing for this snake?
I was so taken with it that when we went on vacation to Sedona, I actually
touched a snake and then later actually held one! I just made some kind of
emotional connection with that snake at the clinic and I can't get it off my
mind.
Am I crazy? Probably.
Thanks for any help at all.
Carolyn
