Mocha has lost even more weight, he now weighs just 2 pounds .25
ounces. Mocha has a lot of syliva in his mouth which sorta indicates
back teeth problems/pasturella related. He said as small as he is I
would have to take him to Tampa to a veterinary dental specialist.
Chances are they would not operate on him because: 1. He is so low
weight and 2. Chances of survival are very very low and 3. His
advanced age (7). He mixed some Torbugesic with Pet-Trinic to be
given 3 times a day to keep him comfortable. All this can slow his
appetite even more so I have to watch out for that and if it makes him
to lithargic, then cut the dose down.

When I put him back into his area, he staggered and couldn't hop too
well. I'm just devasted at the thoughts of losing him. I have bonded
so close with him, he'll sit in my arms for long periods of time and
just give kisses forever being a perfect snuggle bun. With him being
sick so often, everything I do is centered around him. He has become
the center of my "universe".

I'm praying for a miracle somehow. Hope this one gets answered.
Please keep those get well vibes coming, Mocha needs as many as he can
get.

Thank you.

Rhonda, Mocha and Eugene

Force feeding is the major key right now.
Eating and drinking is the primary thing.
Sryinge at least 15cc's of critical care
or baby oatmeal food every 6 hours.
If it is only tooth related at this point
and no infections are involved, a strong
feeding regimen will pull him through.

Rhonda, where do you live? When you said there was saliva, I though it
might be molars. There is a vet in Jacksonville, FL, who is competent and
has equipment for dentistry. Would Jacksonville be more convenient?

I hope that the torbugsic is okay with Mocha. It will make it a lot easier
on him. Quark had trouble taking the narcotic and NSAID the doctor gave me
for him -- near-coma sedation and total anorexia. Now I am giving him half
a baby aspirin when he needs it. People talk bad about aspirin and rabbits,
but I have had much luck with it. It shouldn't be given on an empty
stomach, though. It would just make things worse. The thing I like about a
small dose of aspirin is that it appears to lift the spirits and stimulate
the appetite. I believe there is a definite place in the pet rabbit
medicine cabinet for it. I wonder if 1/4 baby aspirin would help Mocha if
he needs it.

Did the doctor check Mocha's ears? The staggering made me wonder if
something may be going on inside of them.

I am sorry that Mocha and you are having to go through this. I hope that he
gets better fast. I know what you mean about getting so close when a rabbit
is sick. Are you having to syringe feed Mocha? He probably needs some
water if the doctor didn't give him a subQ. Quark wasn't able to drink well
when his mouth didn't work right. I had to syringe feed him water. Baby
food also helped when he was anorexic. I used mixed veggies. It may not be
Critical Care, but I was more concerned with getting something palatable
into his mouth.

Good luck and ((((((Mocha and Rhonda))))))

Anita

Warm healing hugs and snuggles coming Mocha's way.

Feel better, little tyke! Your momma needs you!

Nona

Rhonda, I think you will feel better if you do take him to the Tampa
specialist.
