I recently got a puppy and was told that the mother was a Jack Russell Terrier and the father is a Miniature Dalmation. I have scoured the web for info on mini dalmations, but can't find anything. Does anybody out there have any info on this breed? I was told by the vet that it is a legit breed, b..

I took my son to a birthday party yesterday. The family, whom I don't really know, had a 'regular' sized Schnauzer in the house & what I *thought* was her puppy. The "puppy" was not hers, but what they said was a 'miniature' Schnauzer. It looked the size of an 8 to 10 week old pup, but was actuall..

Hello everyone, I have never had the privilege of owning a dog and I am planning to relocate to a new area. I would greatly appreciate any information about selecting a first time dog. 1. Are there any miniature breeds that are like cats in that they can be left alone for up to two days in certa..
« ALAN1S said in rec.pets.dogs.breeds: No. Sorry for the blunt answer, but dogs are social animals who need companionship and physical and mental exercise. -- --Matt. Rocky's a Dog. »

My 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer frequently pants throughout the day, even when there is no way she could possibly be hot. This happens sometimes 10 or 15 times a day, lasting anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes. I took her to her vet, who checked her out, and he found nothing wrong. Does this soun..

Is it necessary to have a mini schnauzer groomed so they have their beards or is it ok to crop their heads and leave the rest of the body have a full bunch of hair. We are thinking of getting a mini and my wife doesn't like the look of a mini although she likes the other aspects of the breed.

Like so many others, I love dogs (especially miniature Dachshunds). I live in New York City where the dog is revered. But they can definitely be hard to train. Loving your little puppy in the right way is all about proper obedience training, feeding, grooming and exercise. I have a blog that goes ..
