Hi. I'll ring the vets tomorrow but I am just so excited that I thought I'd
try to get an answer here, tonight.

My little Mini, sterile since an emergency caesarean took her ovaries, has
seemed to come into Heat!??

She is 'displaying' and swollen. She has mated with my male (who has since
been castrated) about a dozen or more times today and he has his nose buried
in her 'money-maker' most of the time.

Do sterile dogs come into 'Heat'? I didn't think that they did but maybe
they do? The sterilization was a deliberate act but a mistake. So if in fact
she isn't sterile as I thought her to be, I am *OVER THE MOON* with joy.

Ok I have a really weird question? Why would you be ecstatic? Usually when
they take the ovaries out during an emergency cesarean they also take the
uterus (complete hysterectomy) out being the uterus is the part they damage
not the ovaries. That would mean she couldn't really be in any kind of
productive heat. If she is having some kind of "heat" it is not safe to let
her mate because not all of the parts that accommodate the male are there
any longer. A female dog can swell and be what seems receptive if they have
a sever bladder or yeast infection. You really should get him away from her
before he does some damage and you can have the vet take a look at her to
tell you otherwise.
