I rescued a 5 yr old beagle, 5 mths later a disc in his back ruptured & he
was a quadraplegic. We got him a wheelchair (he's in no pain or I wouldn't
have done this) but he prefers to 'drag around'. This little guy goes so
fast his ears flap! Sure, it's a problem with waste, but he's a happy guy.
And lucky! He doesn't like the wheelchair because it gets stuck on
furniture. rocks & holes outside, etc. He prefers to go naked. I have to
keep his feet wrapped with VetWrap when he's outside, tho, or they get drug
bloody.
By the way, 6 months ago, much to all his vets' astonishment because his
back was so bad, his spinal column grew & reattached. He 'runs' in his
sleep, wags his tail, & has regained all feeling in his hindquarters. Yet he
still 'drags' & doesn't attempt to walk; the docs say that's common; he's
forgotten how he walked before. I've tried everything; water (NOT a good
idea with him), I made a harness for his back end with leashes (he just runs
so fast I can't keep up with him & doesn't even attempt to move his back
legs). But when he sleeps & dreams, his back legs are going a mile a minute!
Good luck.

I posted a message here a few days ago about another problem I'm having with
a possible 'hermaphrodite' dog (not the crip) that no one answered. I think
maybe people thought it was a joke but it's not.
