I think it's directly north. It also looks like the race
has had a short but rocky (NO PUN INTENDED) history, thanks
to the weather.

http://www.rosebudrun.ca. I think it's
pretty cool to have races relatively close to major cities,
although it's a mixed bag for the mushers. There are
purebred races in Vaughan, ON (Toronto northern suburb)
every year and I feel kind of obligated to go up, but I
don't want to stay with my dogs in a suburban hotel and
while various family have said I could park my truck at
their places that would be absolutely crazy, not to mention
really hard on the dogs (tons of youngsters badgering 'em).
But still, I think it's nice that city people get a chance
to see something like that. The extent to which humans are
becoming alienated from nature is pretty disheartening, and
stuff to counteract that is always good.
