Should have mentioned that I think it was a garter snake but don't know. If
I remember correctly it was bright green with yellow stripes the length of
its body. And I think the top of its head was also green.

It all happened so fast that my memory may be playing dirty tricks.

Thanks again.

just let it stay, does more good than bad, or get rid of the food source, no
need to kill it

Don't want to kill it but don't want it eating my fish either. I just want
it to go away. I don't kill harmless snakes unless they are eating my fish.

Why... are you a vegan? No? So you eat fish too? Everyone needs to
eat.

Catch it and turn it loose far away.

How big are your fish? The garters snakes i have seen eat fish the size of
small goldfish , guppies or about that size. if your worried buy some feeder
fish so the snakes won't be hungry

You said it ate a frog, not fish. I don't think snakes would eat fish,
would they? But frogs are a typical food source.

Snakes will definitely eat fish, frogs, mice. Depends on the snake, of
course. But the fish do not have to be particularly small. I have seen
them snatch a 3 incher.

And it didn't eat the frog. When I wiggled the stone the snake was hiding
under the frog got away.

I think the snake may have departed. I have been trying to catch it sunning
itself and haven't seen it. On the other hand I have not seen several of my
frogs so maybe the snake is sleeping off a meal. Who knows.

Regrettably, the snakes are unable to discern which fish are feeder fish and
which are "my" fish. So, the feeder fish idea is out.

A number of snakes will happily eat fish.
