We had 2 degus, males, together since infants. 2 years old. Added another
young one, no trouble they all got along just fine. 2 months later the new
little guy had an accident and died. Waited one week and brought home
another young one. Gets along just fine with one of the older degus, but he
(the new one) gets all panicky whenever the other one gets any where near
him. The older one doesn't sem to be threatening him as far as we can tell,
but the little guy is just terrified of him. Anybody have any ideas how to
get them all living together?
Thanks.

Well, they have to check each other out. When old guy #1 does so the young
one allows it. When Old Guy #2 trys to investigate, the young one panics and
runs. So much so that he will run into things. I suspect one of his eyes is
not good, but why the difference between his reaction to the older 2. He has
hurt himself a couple of times and he just won't settle down. We tryed to
just leave them but they don't seem to be adjusting.

Degus - Anybody have degus on this NG? They are the sweetest, cutest little creatures. Bigger than a gerbil (we have those) and smaller than a chinchilla. We call ours the "wheebles" because of the noises they make, will be happy to chat on this boa...

Nibbling Degus - Hi, I recently (one week ago) bought two gerbils. the first day, one of them got stuck in a little box, and while i rushed to the rescue, the other one saw me as a threat and bit me rather hard in my pinky, no biggie for me but for them it seemed kinda..

Degus with long teeth - 1 of my Degu has very long front teeth (compared to the other...I'd say around 0.5 cm vs 0.2 cm). He can still eat normally...But I wonder if I should do something about it...I heard about clipping them with a regular nail clipper. Anyone has done this..
