Post subject: Help Identify wee little snake

Pictures posted in alt.binaries.animals
3 1/2 inch snake found dead, in yard, piece of shed skin on
tail. Brown with black specks on body, larger black area on
head, white belly. Think its been too cold for snakes to be
out and about for the last few days in this area, heavy cold
front just through, temps from low 30's to mid 60's F..
Pictures cropped for size only, no editing.
I've never found one this small, Nickle in photos for size
comparison. What is it.
