Hi Guys

Just a little note/query about hatching times.

With the first egg being hatched today it is 23 days since the first
egg was laid. Isn't it normally 17 - 19 day for an egg to hatch?

Could this extra long hatching time be because they had trouble
sitting on both eggs at one time for the first couple of days?

Thanks for the help guys!

Hi

Thanks for the timing info, but as far as I'm concerned now they are
hatched I don't care how long it took. But I will note timing for
future reference :-)

I just thought it might be nice to put something special in for Mum &
Dad. If I put split peas in should I soak them first?

I'm so excited! Its the first time I've been an auntie to pigeons:-)

I'm I correct in saying a baby pigeon is called a 'squib'?

Hi Fran,
a squib.......ha ha ha.......no.....that's squab.%^)
Why split peas, and not whole? Anyway, no, you don't have to soak them.
You ARE giving them grit, right?

Hi

I just thought split peas would be a bit different. Yes, they do have
grit :-)

I'm stil so excited... it a bit like the question says 'Where do
pigeons come from 'cause you never see a baby one!'

Well, now I have :-)
