Some (horrible) person let their dog loose in my neighborhood several
weeks ago. The dog followed the pizza delivery person to our door; he
was starving. We have been caring for him since. We actually found
the owner walking near our street yesterday - he took the dog back but
then chained him to our street sign a couple of hours later. The
owner had told us the dog ran away, but apparently he just didn't want
him anymore. I heard the dog crying from inside my house and retrieved
him. I have called 30+ foster homes, only one has replied, and she
could not take a large dog. We cannot keep him either since we have 10
pets of our own, all small, and this dog, while incredibly friendly and
sweet to people, really shouldn't be around cats and such. He is
staying on our porch. He is miserable because he wants to be with
people. Our animals are miserable because they cannot go outside on
the porch. We are desperately searching for a home for him. We will
drive anywhere in Florida if it means finding him a caring, no kill
home. We can donate money for his care. One of the no kill sites
recommended this newsgroup for rescuer referrals. Any help is
appreciated.
