Hello Jerry,

This is great--it is such a wonderful description of
the nature and cause of behavioral problems that
result from operant conditioning. Wouldn't you care
to post it to the group for their edification?

I am as far from a social climber as you could ever
imagine. Perhaps that is why I don't call myself Dr
or why I don't display PhD after my name.

I know about logical fallacies. My credentials shouldn't
matter to those on the news group. They keep asking
how many dogs I have trained. The logical answer, of
course, is that it doesn't matter. One person could have
trained a thousand dogs incorrectly and another could
have trained one correctly.

I have long had a bone to pick with B.F. Skinner's
behaviorism applied to humans. But not until I began
thinking in depth about your approach and Dare Miller's
approach to raising and training dogs did I come to
completely realize their nature as thinking animals.

Thus it must be as wrong to apply operant conditioning
to canines as it is to apply it to humans. I have been
using my posts on this news group the test the intellectual
waters so to speak.

I wanted to see what intellectual arguments they could
muster to support their method. But as far as I can see,
the intellectual cupboard is bare.

I would like to discredit operant conditioning as a
prominent training method. Perhaps someday I
would like to write a book, hopefully with your
support and authorship.

Anyway, if my posts are hurting your cause, then I
am happy to quit. I have spent great effort thinking
about my posts and there are more productive uses
for my time. I can't compete with those who use insults,
innuendo, out-of-context quotes and every other logical
fallacy imaginable.

My only consolation is, however, that if that is the
best that they have to offer, then the intellectual
opposition is weak.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Lar. You know the
old EXXXPRESSION "shit rolls DHOWENhill."

Their hatred and anger towards you is only
displaced fear of Jerry. SHORE, you've got
that science talk DHOWEN pat, but noWON
hurts and intimidates a person like The Amazing
Puppy Wizard does when he quotes their pubicly
published words.

> I must be doing pretty good, huh?

Pretty good indeed. You're the provocateaur
who prompted professor scruff shake to roll
over. Still waiting for him to post his revelation
and enlightenment to the group, which will
force those who are sincere but CONfHOWENDED
to habilitate themselves and those who are
not will be finally disarmed and will sneak off
into the dark like a band of thieves.

> I may be hated even worse than you now.

Naaah. They haven't started aerial and automobile
surveillance of you YET. Have they swamped your
Email with filthy website mateial and free subscribtions
and dozens of copies of each post you've sent etc?

Stick arHOWEND.

> Ha, ha.

Doesn't bother me in the least. I'm not bulletproof,
but I've got the heaviest field artillary since discovery
of the plume, thanks to Al Gore, of curse.

> What evidence is available to show

You know The Amazing Puppy Wizard doesn't
cite other's works unless HE'S JERRYIZING
them with their own words.

> that clicker training causes stress and anxiety

You mean like HOWE when Pavlov's dogs drooled?
They weren't drooling cause they had Parkinsons.
They drooled cause they were overly excited, not
starving.

Probably the BEST EVIDENCE is the CASE HISTORIES
of chumps like professor scruff shake dermer, who's
"NEVER DONE" bad things to his dog, but DID do
clicker training. His little dog Maxie The Magnificent
FuriHOWESLY Obsessive Compulsive Masturbator
furiHOWESLY obsessively compulsively masturbates
on his C-HOWECH pillows if he misses his daily five
miles of bicycle chasin. Maxie is a Havanese. He's
likeWIZE DYING of chronic internal DIS-EASE.

> and thus results in behavioral problems.

Professora Daniel's dog Sunshine was clicker
trained pryor to meeting me online. He was
aggressive and had light / shadow chasing OCD
and bit her a couple times just a few days
before studying my manual. Only took her a few
days to EXXXTINGUISH his OCD and aggression.
Today, he's steady with neighborhood kats abHOWET
and eagerly greets EVERY WON, including strange
dogs, whom HE IS allHOWED to say HOWEDY to.

He went through the predictable refusal to
work for a few days after stoppin the bribery
and clicking but within a week or so he resumed
the service dog chores he'd been taught pryor
to learning HOWE to work for pure pleasure.
(Professora Daniel is somewhat disabled.)

Some months thereafter, Proefssora Daniel
was munchin on a piece of cheese as she
passed through a doorway and asked Sunshine
to close the door behind her. Having completed
that, he looked at her hand and "asked for" a
piece of cheese, which he was granted as a
matter of cures, just on accHOWENT.

Don't you KNOW Sunshine interpereted that
as a pay off and QUIT WORKING again for
well over a week.

Withholding treats increases anxiHOWESNESS
and teaches greed and food motivation rather
than teamwork. The dog throws frantic mindless
unthinking behaviors to elicit a treat. Not relenquishing
the promised treat untill the dog coincidentally
stumbles upon (or not) the desired behavior teaches
mistrust.

The STATE OF MIND is frantic. Think about
it as though you was a heart patient reachin
for nitro just a fraction HOWETA reach down
a heating duct.

Not to digress, but offering "bonanzas" as rewards
is ludicrHOWES. Dogs aren't bankers, they go for
the treat that fell under the fridge and fixate on that
rather than leisurely enjoy their dinner in the bowl
next to it.

Everything we talk about can EZily be repeated
by any researcher or trainer. But even more
importantly, common sense and understanding
the nature of the beast obviates the need to see
behaviors or even HOWE the dog responds, cause
we KNOW the dog WILL respond if the thinking
is in order. That's the beauty of my method, we
obviate past history, excuses, blame, guilt, all
the trappings people rely upon to soothe their
fragile defective egos and compensate for their
weak fearful minds and inferiority complexes.

We're talkin more abHOWET human behavior
and psychiatry, than dog behavior, as has been
PROVEN, all behavior problems are caused by
mishandling, not bad dogs or bad genes or past
history

Take a kennel full of dogs and offer them a treat
while flashing the lights. After a few repetitions
the dogs will go nuts at the flash of the light.

NHOWE throw the light enough and the dogs
will develop OCD'S like spinning barking digging
chewing paw licking side sucking shyness agg-
ression maybe even seizures and intestinal
/ bHOWEL / urinary tract DIS-EASES and much
much more.

Another test might be to take individual subject
dogs to task, say asking them to sit while greeting
a stranger or any working situation. Flash the light
and the dog won't be able to make an apupriate
introduction as he'll have likely broken the sit
command to jump on the gueset as a result of
reflexive anxi-HOWESNESS associated with
teasing with the treat, even months and years, pryor.

Finally, the coupe de gras for clickeroos: karen
pryor murdered her own dead kat on accHOWET
of she couldn't C/T him not to FHOWEL her stove top.
If C/T COULD have extinguised that problem, HOWE
COME she couldn't do so in a timely manner?

CAUSE EVEN AT BEST, it could take months
to C/T a so called self rewarding or anxiHOWESNESS
behavior problem.

The Amazing Puppy Wizard's GRANDDADDY
taught HIM not to ever bribe a dog. HE said "if
Dutchess doesn't want to go HOWET to play
with you and you give her the watermelon she's
not doin it to be with you, she's only there to
chump you for the food and she'll be right back
inside soon as she gets it. Better make NICE to
her and make her WANT to be with you."

> --Larry

The PROBLEM IS, Larry, dog people NEED to
blame the dog for their inability to train them.
They CANNOT CONCEIVE of NEVER NEEDING
to PUNISH or SCOLD or "show him what's wrong
so you can teach him right" as dr dunbar uses
as his EXXXCUSE for relying on -R.

I get so CONfHOWENDED with all the alphabet
soup and scientific words which mislead us into
thinking and doing the wrong things under the
disguise of science.

As a fameHOWES trainer once said when asked
HOWE does he make his critters work, 'HOWE
to make them work AIN'T the problem. HOWE
do I get them to STOP!!!'

Oh, I've been wondering what kinda
alphabet soup do you have after your name?

Yours, Jerry.

P.S. I hope you're not just bein a social status
climber. HOWEver, I realize I've got to beware
of overly ambitiHOWES people.
