Archived from groups: rec>aquaria>freshwater>misc (more info?)

Hey all,

Well my friend has 1 male guppy and two female guppies. The females were
big and gravid from the store, so we assumed they were pregnant(probably
true knowing guppies). Anyways, these guppies have not gotten any smaller,
and we haven't seen any fry around.. He has 2 Gourami's, a Female Betta, the
Guppies, an Oto, and a few ghost shrimp in his tank.. His tank is also
fairly heavily planted(I'd say about half the tank is plants). Any ideas
why has not seen any fry/reduction in size of the guppies for the 2-3 months
he's had these? Thanks.

-Erik

maybe they are just fat??? just kidding... gup females are pregnant within
hours of giving birth, but it takes several weeks for them to get plump...
After being plump, it takes app. 28 days and they're giving birth...

with all the other fish and the parents in there, it's possible, you never
will see babies.... I had to isolate my females to see any babies..... then
I had to isolate the babies from momma, she got hungry....
