As a boy we had two Danes (one after the other). The Danes were friendly,
even shy, around people. They are only dangerous to children because of
their size. And the tail can clear out an entire endtable. They are
beautiful, but don't live too long past 9 or 10 years. They don't require
"lots of space." I've heard that some people even have them in apartments!
Probably depends on the dog if it's horse or cat safe. You can have the Dane
tested for that before adoption.
If you like the breed, go for it.
www.Petfinder.com has lots of Danes and
Dane mixes.
