Archived from groups: alt>pets>mice (more info?)

My first pet mouse did no harm. He did what any male mouse would have done
if housed with a female. They had a litter and then had to be separated in
to his own cage for the past 8 months.

He seemed to have a food allergy, causing him to severely scratch to the
point of taking off a good part of his ears and getting to his flesh. Just
when it seemed to be getting better, he never healed. I've been finding
blood throughout his cage for a month or so now. The other night I noticed
him out with a good part of his right side covered in fresh blood, including
his front right arm, causing him difficulty to use it. Along with some
unusual behavior.

I can't stand to see him like this any more and fear that he is in pain. As
much as it hurts me, I decided to euthanize him via the CO2 method. I sit
here as he is sealed in the chamber, seemingly lifeless for the past 15
minutes.

You will be missed, friend. Aloha
