Turtles can be messy, however I have used canister filters many times
for my customers turtle tanks (I had one customer with a pair of rare
Reeves Turtles).

I also preferred to connect a UV Sterilizer to these canister filters
to prevent disease, in particular Salmonella.

As to the Eheim 2026 this is an excellent filter (as all Eheims are
with the exception of their Wet/Dry model), and the use of the media
that comes with or for this filter is fine.
However I personally prefer the Via Aqua 750 Filter for the money.
Very reliable, with excellent head pressure (which is a good thing for
Canister filters), and a better value.
