I may've posted it many years ago but I'm interested in opinions again, Almost all books I've read say you must not keep goldfish at tropical temperatures, and keeping them at near 30*c is likely to kill them. However I've lived in Taiwan for a most my life, where in summer above 30*c temp is unav..
« I saw lots of goldfish in Malaysia and Thailand, they seemed to be doing okay. Cool water is probably better, especially for the more active ones, but I think tropical conditions aren't all that ba.. »
« And that opens the possibility of mixing with tropicals. Haven't had a chance to try it but I think corys are good mates for goldfish, especially slow swimming fantails etc. The fast swimming single.. »

I only have a ph test kit and a ammonia test kit at the moment, ammonia was 0 (or did not turn yellow) and ph was basic (blue 7.2) is that ph ok for my goldfish, and if ph is that in one of my tanks would that be the same for all? I guess what I am asking...does ph have to do with my water from..
« Hi, mine is 7.6 and i understand that is ok for goldfish. I think you can go from about 6.9 to 7.8ish. I might be slightly out on that but I'm pretty sure that your 7.2 is fine. I'm guessing that.. »
« Your probably right, i read the box which had levels from acidy, up to basic, but i think i read to much ....during the first paragraph i thought i understood but as it went on and on i got lost s.. »
« Your pH is the same every time you draw it from the faucet, but as soon as it hits the tanks, it changes at a different rate, depending on the conditions in the individual tanks. Nikki. Get a Test K.. »
« I know, i know, i know, i am very forgetful in stores, hey ....i got two tests, now i just got to get a couple more, i go in to a store to get a fish that is 5.99 and come out with $100.00 worth .. »

My 10 gal tank with a 6-8" goldfish in it has turned cloudy over the last three days. It's been running for 6months or so and has never done this before. Your thoughts? Larry
« Gill - I think Larry means he has ONE 6-8 inch goldfish in a 10gal. Still a little small, so that might be the cause of you cloudiness... »
« I did wonder :-) That's why I asked.... Gill »
« As others have posted, that's a pretty big fish for 10 gallons. Is that the body length only, or are you counting the tail? Also as others posted, a couple of good water changes over a few days w.. »
« Larry, First off, you need a larger tank for that poor Goldfish. A 10g is fine for when they are younger, but when they reach this size, they really need to be housed in a much larger tank. For just.. »

Recently, for my son's 13th birthday (September 17), he got four goldfish from a friend. One died immediately. The other four found a new home in two separate small bowls. The next day the second died and this past Tuesday the third died. I have moved the fourth to a new proper fishbowl on Wednesd..
« Do you de-chlorinate the water? If not, that maybe the reason your Gold Fish dies. To keep it in the bowl, you have to change the water every 2-3 days, since it don't have filtering system. Feed him.. »

I went to do my weekly water change and I thought the tank looked pretty clean. So I decided to test the water and save myself some work. Woh, the PH was in the basement (5.5-) and KH was non existent! The water out of the tap is 7.5 PH with a KH of 140. So what caused the drop? What's the preferr..
