We have interest in purchasing a Goldendoodle. Does anyone in this group
have experience with this dog?
If so, what might one say about second-generation Goldendoodles? (One
parent is a Goldendoodle, the other may be a Poodle or Golden Retriver)
Considering a female from the pup, as early as possible stage. Advice?
Wife is allergic to dog fur and dander. Goldendoodles - daughter has one as
well as does a neighbor - do not seem to bother my wife.
Hair is one thing. It has been said the saliva is another issue, reaction
from one Golden to another may be different. True?
Kind Regards,

That last suggestion, while a great idea, may be difficult since
many good breeders don't own both dam and sire. Maybe checking
out pups from a similar breeding?

100% endorsement on that, especially since the OP likes the idea
of a mixed breed. There are certainly a lot to choose from in
rescue and shelters, especially those of a GR/Poodle mix's size.

Not just that, but it just isn't that common that the best mating will
be from dogs someone owns rather than finding a stud elsewhere. That
isn't to say that some good breeders don't happen to own both sire and
dam. Just that "both parents on premises" is not any kind of hallmark
of quality of breeder, is often the opposite, and having info on dad and
meeting the mom is about all you're going to get. Of course, my most
recent addition was acquired sight unseen! I know her uncle rather well
though!

Frozen semen there IS big business and seemingly routine.. but in realty,
it's not.

Please don't support people who are breeding "mutts."
If you want a mixed breed, please go to your local pound or contact a breed
rescue group-they often have puppy mixes.

True, but that wasn't my first thought. Many breeders I know
import the sperm in its original package.
Janet addressed the "both parents on site" thing well.
