My wife has done the impossible.

She has turned what used to be an internet joke into a reality.

Our cats are 5 years old and they get baths in the sink several times a
year.

They are white and when they get outside they like to take a nice roll in
the dirt. Lots of dirt. Very black dirt.

Since the cats were kittens, she has bathed them in the sink and talked to
them and praised them for being "good boys". Warm water and Suave shampoo.
They fuss, they whine, they "mrow" over and over. But they have become so
cooperative that her, my sons, or myself can give them a bath without a
single scratch.

For this, she deserves a spot on Mount Rushmore.

We have never had a problem with fleas for some reason. (knock-knock)

But our sink in the basement doesn't have a faucet. It's attached by a very
short garden hose to the same supply inlet use by the washing machine. We
have one of those attachments on the end that let you choose stuff like
MIST, SHOWER, JET, etc. I think we always keep it on SHOWER for the cats,
but the water flow is on the gentler side, with the temp warm enough to be
comfortable.

Like I said earlier, we use ordinary OTC shampoo. Nothing fancy, just the
Suave. Sometime's she'll even do the creme rinse, but I think that's a
little much. But you could probably do the same with a flea shampoo from the
store or your vet. Just keep it out of her eyes and mucous membranes.

I used to bathe my cats all the time. I had a friend who is allergic, and
he used to visit all the time. bathing reduces the allergens.

However, Id highly recommend against using OTC shampoos for humans. if your
not careful in getting it all off, you could be poisoning your kitties when
they groom themselves dry. Use something that is either cat specific or
totally non toxic.
