Okay, I've been where you are, and here's what I feel about it.
I think someday I may want a German Pinscher. However, at this time I
don't think structure or temperament is where I want it to be. When I
started talking to people I found a fair amount of dog aggression to be
an issue. I also simply didn't like the functional structure of the dogs
I saw. Most were very straight both ends, some quite a bit higher in the
rear than the front, and even watching the show dogs move I was less
than impressed. Now granted, I wanted one for agility. If you don't want
anything but a pet, one might do fine but I'd still watch that dog
aggression carefully. I'd also be wary of health issues. It's a tiny
gene pool being built into a bigger one and as such there are bound to
be problems.
Oh and I now have a Min Pin, but have fallen in love with Rat Terriers
as well.
