I'm mouse-sitting a couple of female mice while their owners are on
vacation. Recently I've observed one attempting to mount the other.
Thought it was interesting behaviour.

On the other hand, this is San Francisco, so I'm not really
surprised. ;)

Hahaha! Mounting is not just a sexual behavior, it's also a dominance behavior. Because of that fact it isn't unusual to see same sex animals mounting each other. I don't know about mice, but in female rats they will often mount each other when one is in heat as well.
