Guppy Just gave birth - One of my guppies just gave birth it belly was huge and now isn't... but now its mouth seems to have somehow swallen up and it doesn't seem to be able to move its lips and can't seem to feed. Can I do anything for it? It looks like it's been in a fight

Are my guppies ok? - Hello~ I adopted 3 guppies from a friend about a month ago and they all seemed happy. After about month, algae was forming on the walls and the gravel, so I cleaned the tank, removed about 50% of the water, etc...( I thought you were only supposed to..

Got my Guppies - Got 2 male guppies and 3 females and the buggers are at it already ;-) How many fry should I be expecting from 1 female does anyone know round abouts? I have pulled some of the plastic plants out to let them float which I hear should give them a better.

dying guppies, help! - Okay, I posted a few threads back about weird algae growing in my tank and a lot of my fish dying. Well, I have noticed that most of the ones that have died have had something that seems to be from their butts. I know this is kind of gross but..

When are fancy guppies are old enough to breed? - I'm thinking of getting a pair of fancy guppies for breeding. How do I tell if they're old enough? According to Baensch they're ready at 3 months. That seems really young so is it safe to assume that if they're being sold they're at least that age? ..

Should a female guppy that has just given birth ever die from giving
birth? I know giving birth is hard for some animals but my female
guppy just gave birth to around a dozen or so beautiful babies and
died. I think it's great to have these babies now and I guess they
will take up were their mother left off but I feel compelled to
investigate the mother's death as she has been with me for a long time
and only recently showed signs of actual pregnancy. It seemed like she
had been pregnant before just not as much and if she was before then
the fact that up until a few days ago she had malnutrition as only a
few days ago I began supplementing their boring diet of flake food
with a supplement of live newly hatched brine shrimp and the fish
seemed to love it except she didn't respond much and today I found her
dead. I used a brine shrimp hatchery kit from san Francisco bay brand.
Summary of my question - how common is it for a guppy mother to die
after giving birth, from exhaustion or something similar? Thanks and
see you all later.

it sometimes happens, also guppies aswell as all live bearers have a shorter
lifespan of 1-2 years. as long as your water parameters are good
ammonia-0ppm, nitrites-0ppm, nitrates-0-40ppm then i wouldnt worry .

Apparently, giving birth is a very tough business no matter
what the species.
