Assuming you feed pre-killed as I do, I finally resorted to ordering
them. All the places I found around the mid-cities area just were not
reliable. Either didn't have them in stock (after I called to confirm
they were in) or the quality of the feeder animals was pathetic.

Hi Chad,
Actually no, I've been feeding her live ones. Never had an incident with them attacking or hurting
her. Looks like my options are running out anyway and will work on ordering them.
Are you ordering live ones then killing them or frozen ones? If pre-killing how are you doing it?
I've read a lot of different ways would like to know your opinion.
Where are you ordering yours from?

Why wait for the incident to happen?

The hardest part about converting to frozen/thawed is being committed to it
and not giving in if they refuse to eat for the first few tries.
What kind of snakes do you have?

I have a simple gas chamber set up, just in case I suddenly receive live
feeder animals. I bought a cO2 canister cheap from a bankruptcy sale and
connected it to an old cooler through the drain spout. Just taped the hose
on there. I just give a blast of cO2 in the cooler for about 5 seconds and
leave the lid closed for about 10 minutes.

I order them frozen from The Mouse Factory. They have good quality and
good prices. The real kicker is the shipping cost, yet when you compare
the low order price plus shipping it is cheaper than buying even
pre-killed retail. At least it is for me.
You can get live mice and gas them yourself, but why bother. You won't
be able to mail order live mice easily or cheaply, I would bet. And the
cost of buying live to kill is just crazy.

True.
Right now she's not eating. Seems every year around this time she will stop for about 3-4 months.
I've tried once to feed her frozen ones, actually got them at PetCo, but she never took it.
I've got a ball python, yes I know they can be finicky and she's in that mood now.
I'll look into frozen again at PetCo., only place around here locally that I've gotten them. Might
see about shipping but don't want to pay a lot for that.
When your cO2 tank runs out any idea on where to get a replacement?
