Archived from groups: alt>pets>dogs>labrador (more info?)

My 17 month old Lab has just recently started to get really dry skin, and
has a patch of his coat that is really wirey. He always seems to be
scratching. I have started giving him Sardines (as they have Omega 3 oil in
that are meant to be for their coat.), but there has been no improvement. I
bought a skin lotion for him from the Pet shop but he doesn't like it. It
has quite a strong smell and he runs round sniffing as if he is trying to
get away from the smell. The problem now is that he has started scratching
undere his arm pits that he is making them red. I have recenly got a lab
pup too and this scratching seems to have got worse since I got the pup.
Both dogs love each other and I can see no sign of fleas. Can anyone give
me any suggestions on what to do. Should I take him to the vets or can
someone recomend something to stop this.

Thanks
