Hi, I'm trying to plan a little road trip to take my dog to see the
ocean for the first time, but I'm having trouble finding info about
where dogs are allowed on beaches. Can anyone tell me of some good
beaches that allow dogs, in the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico?
Northwest Florida, southern Louisiana, eastern Texas, etc; I'm coming
from southern Missouri. I would appreciate any and all suggestions,
thanks.

I love dogs, but agree with your statement. However, I have noticed
that dog owners sometimes use the fringe areas of a beach -- beyond the
areas covered by the lifeguards -- since there often are few people
there.

I would think that just about no one on the beach would welcome the
potential mess a dog might make. I speak from experience, since I own
two.

I haven't noticed anyone bothering dogs on Texas beaches. There may be
exceptions but I don't know of any. I have certainly seen plenty of
dogs. Now the dog will experience very thin sand rather than a real
ocean but that doesn't appear to bother them. Also in all the areas
mentioned watch out for jellyfish.
