If you are not going to use a lead then get yourself an e-collar and learn
to use. Don't let the dog out without wearing the collar and don't be
afraid to use it when he starts off to chase anything. This was one of the
best investments I have ever made. I now have a well behaved dog who
doesn't bark excessively and will no longer chase critters out of the yard.
The morning she took off at 6 am through the neighbor hood after a rabbit
convinced me it was time to get one. The next morning I was waiting for her
and when she darted out of the yard I yelled no and zapped her with it. It
took a few reminders but now I don't have to worry with her taking off and
getting hit with a car. Infact I rarely ever even put the collar on her
now.
