Slightly off topic - Sorry!

Our 1 year old male lab is shedding more hair than I ever recall our other
two dogs shedding. He will not accept the "no shed" command!!!

We use a Hoover WindTunnel Mach 3.8 which does an ok job (on the carpet -
not on the dog); but, can someone recommend something better?

Dyson?

We are drowning in dog hair.

Thanks -

L

No answer. ~~~ I run a vacuum daily through my small house, it drives my
husband nuts. I use a Kenmore, 12 amp. with a paper bag. I empty it every
3-4 weeks. It only takes me 20 minutes, it is a ritual and truly keeps the
hair down. There is no solution.

I use a shedding blade on Boomer. It works better for me than a brush
which he hates. He'll tolerate the shedding blade. I also vacuum
every day to pick up the dog and cat hair. Labs only shed twice a
year, from January to June and July to December.

3 suggestions-

a)- Teach the dog to sit patiently while he is being "vacuumed" with the
upholstery attachment once or twice a week. (This should actually feel good
to him, since it's like a massage- he just has to get over the initial fear)

b)- hire a cleaning crew to come in weekly and clean thoroughly

c)- incorporate the dog hair into your decor- a dog hair motif, as it were.

You'll never eliminate shedding in a Lab, but you can minimize it by
vacuuming the dog. The experts here may also have some advice regarding
diet, etc, as it affects hair loss, but our family has simply learned to
live with it. Our cleaning ladies come every two weeks, and always comment
on the amount of hair they pick up in the bagless vacuum. Our 2000 sq ft
ranch home collects enough Lab hair in 2 weeks to create a whole 'nother
dog.

I used the shedding blade for 6 years on my guys until I used that "new"
tool buy the Kong People--alot of rubber pointed ends that work in the same
way....and is gentler on them and very very good--sorry it is too early and
I can't remember the name of it....but I was a shedder devotee for years but
it was not comfortable for them but this tool they come to me for....and
they love their brushing! Penny

A 20 gallon Shop Vac! Seriously!!!! This after removing all the carpet
in the house and going through some expensive vaccums.

And the latest 'investment' to curtail doghair ... slip covers! When
company is coming over, the furniture gets covered, floors get
vaccumed and no one even knows we have 7 Labs ... yeah, right!

Only carpet in the house is in our bedroom and shortly after removing
all the rest of it, a couple of them ate a hole in the carpet. One of
them had taken a tub of butter off the kitchen counter, gone into the
bedroom for peace and quiet and when the others found out he had spilt
it as it melted they decided to help clean the carpet and ate about a
6 inch hole.

Oh, and about a 4 foot area at the end of the hall has carpet too ...
That's where they throw up every time they get sick ... somtimes from
eating buttery carpet too ;-)

THAT'S IT!! Zoom Groom...thank you so much...I am home and glad to see it
posted! It picks up probably more hair than the shedder did...and much more
comfortable. I will probably have to replace mine soon but something like
once a year is not bad! I brush them daily or at least every other day.
P...and still buckets of hair!
