Discus going to die.

Hi,
Afraid I'm going to lose my last discus. I've had him for around two years,
but in the last week or so he's become a recluse, whereas he was quite a
curious fish always coming up to the glass to see what was going on. Now
he's in hiding not eating fin clamped, my last discus who died like this
took 3 months to go, just wasting away.
All my water param's are spot on, now I've only ever had disease in my tank
once, which was from a new fish, so I'm not really au fait with what to do,
look for etc. The discus has no external problems,
any ideas

Discus wasting away are most likely suffering from Spironucleus
flagellates (or whatever the name is), an internal parasite. They can
be treated with a medicine containing Metronidazole. You may find this
in a medicine at your fish store, depending where you live. Where I
live I had to get a prescription from a veterinarian, and then to a
pharmacy for the medicine. Metronidazole can either be mixed in the
food, or put in the water like standard tropical fish meds.
