Hello,
A friend has a cat which is diabetic and is injected with insulin from the
vet, due to cost of this he is considering using insulin produced for humans
which he can get for free.
Is it safe to do this any advise appreciated.
Regards

No, it's not safe to switch insulin, and in the amounts it takes to inject
a cat, it's really not expensive either.

Just wondering...your friend...is he/she capable of taking on the
responsibilities of taking care of a cat - additionally, a diabetic cat? When
one has a special needs pet, it would seem to be logical that one would consult
with a vet before ANYTHING ELSE IS researched. Your friend - he/she has no
phone to call a vet to ask questions about taking care of a special needs cat? >> Stay informed about: Diabetic cat |

Why don't you ring a vet and find out for sure?

What are the symptoms of a diabetic cat anyway? >> Stay informed about: Diabetic cat |

The symptoms are excessive drinking and peeing. It then can progress to
nerothropy of the rear legs. Many caregivers use human insulin. There are
many types some of which are not suitable for cats.
