Quick question..
Is it safe to use deodorants which are made for humans (such as Axe) on
dogs?

Thanks

Given the nature of the product, the manufacturer anticipates the
ingestion of the residue. So, it (Axe) is not the most toxic substance
out there. However, dogs metabolize things differently.

A dog that smells so bad, that it needs a deodorant, probably has a
dermatological problem that needs to be treated. In other words, treat
the cause--not the symptoms.

I wouldn't try it on my dog, because dogs don't sweat through the skin the
way humans do. If you wish to cover up a bad "doggie odor", you may want to
try bathing the dog (using a mild, dog-friendly shampoo) and see if that
helps. If it doesn't, I'd try switching the dog to a different food. I
personally recommend a raw, meat based diet, which has reduced or even
removed the "doggie odor" of my own dog and several of my friends' dogs.

BTW, when I say "doggie odor", I mean the often rather unpleasant smell that
some dogs have. My dog still has a smell quite his own, but it's not strong
or unpleasant. It doesn't trigger my allergies, although I'm allergic to
most other furry critters, including dogs.

If you are putting it on to cover odors then either give the dog a bath or
in a quick fix for smelly fur you can wipe it down with a damp wash cloth
soaked in vinegar. The vinegar neutralizes any odors and no the dog won't
smell like a pickle.

I used to use this all the time with Barney. He only got bathed twice a 4
times a year and in between I'd use the vinegar if he started getting a bit
of odor. No one ever complained about him being a smelly dog.

I use baby wipes. They work great and are so convenient.
