Ahh, as of now, Nona is somewhere over the frigid Lake Superior...it's
8:36pm here and she won't get here for another hour. Not bad, considering
the weather: high winds and -40 temps she's only 3 hours late :) Her first
flight got cancelled.

I've got some FOOD ready, don't know if she'll want to eat when she gets in,
but it's there.

K, I'll let you know what's up!

This is very exciting, Arlette! Does the little guy know just how popular
he is???

I must admit, I'm surprised at how many non-cooks there are - I love to
cook!

Have fun with Nona.

Yup! She made it after a long gruelling day, and a customs shake down :0

It was a good thing her plane from Toronto to Thunder Bay was so late since
her NY plane was late getting there and then customs.

When she walked through the gate it was like seeing an old friend, and a
very pretty and stylish one at that :)

Nona came to our house and spent a lot of time cuddling with Cocoa; he
enjoyed that. She also brought us gifts...way to nice. I got home make
chocolate! YUM!! AND some lovely warm and stylish scarves, gloves and a cool
woolly hat. Cocoa got his own stuffed bunny and some toy balls.

So, tomorrow we'll hit little Finland and the famous Hoito restaurant with
it's Finn pancakes.
It sure is cold here though; at present it is - 37C.

I just dropped Nona off at her hotel. It's one of our nicer ones, well, it's
in an historic building on the waterfront.

Ok, I'm beat, so I have to go take the boy for his walk and then get to bed,
Night!

LOL, most of the fun is indoors Beth!

It's funny though, I just got off the phone with Nona; she wanted to stay at
the Prince Arthur hotel...well, she decided she's going to walk from her
hotel to Hoito restaurant where we're going to eat. That's a New Yorker to
the bone! I'm glad though, we do like walking around here, as long as you
dress warmly, it's not bad. It's a beautiful day today and the wind-chill is
only -27 C now...a whole ten degrees warmer...which is about 20 degrees
warmer in Fahrenheit! She only has to walk about seven or eight blocks, so
it isn't too bad. Brave girl :)

OK, today is really warm, only -6C...that's in the mid 20's F. Heat wave!

We had a really great time yesterday driving around while I showed Nona the
diverse areas of Thunder Bay...LOL I'm sure she wondered where the heck she
got herself too. We stopped at the park, but it was really cold and we
weren't dress quite well enough. We ate at the famous Hoito; Nona enjoyed
her Finn pancakes. At night we went to a play at our Magnus theatre. It was
really good and we both enjoyed it. Then I made Nona stay up really late
watching Cocoa's vids and our wedding video.

I haven't talked to her yet today...I'm sure she's still recovering...LOL
Today we hoped to go to the museum and the conservatory. Tonight I have
tickets to the symphony.

Nona has taken some pics which I'm sure she share with us all. She even got
a little video of Cocoa walking around in his sling.

Hey Arlette, don't get crazy up there, and paint the town um white! Carla
Liza and Jodie. Hope Cocoa enjoyed all of the attention, too. I am so
jealous. Carla Liza and Jodie.

Well, Nona should be touching down at La Guardia in about an hour if all
goes as planned.

Yesterday, we went to the tropical garden conservatory; it's small, but a
lovely place to go in winter. Makes you feel like you're in Aruba!
Then we came back to my place, spent some time with Cocoa, then went to
Masala Grill which is an Indian restaurant. It was so good! I'd never been
there before. yummy!

Then we were just done in time to hit the Thunder Bay symphony. We nipped in
just in time...the venue was at the Italian cultural centre, so we sat at
large round tables, no assigned seating. I saw a few seats right in front of
the orchestra that were open, because sponsors didn't use them, so we were
so fortunate there! Small miracles.

Nona came back to my place for a little while after that to say good bye to
Cocoa. I took her to the airport this morning. She had to pause a little
while going through security as she had a lot of squeaks on the metal
detector. What was that woman carrying??? ;)

I'm sure she'll tell you all about it and show you the many pics she took.
We had a really great time! A couple of days almost felt like a week since
we were going pretty steady. Now I feel bored :)

We had an awesome time, or at least I did.

Arlette and I got on like a house afire -- if that is an appropriate
metaphor for a place where the temp was generally around 20 below.

Details will indeed follow, as well as pictures somewhere online--soon.

I went from LaGuardia direct to Carnegie Hall for an Orpheus Chamber
Orchestra concert that was absolutely awesome.

Talked to Ira some. Hugged bunnies. Now must rest!
