Post subject: Crows
Archived from groups: rec>birds (more info?)

I posted last week but didn't get a reply:) Thought I'd try again in case
anyone knows the answer. In the last few weeks, we've seen crows flying
around in groups of 3, and they are making a weird sound that I've never
heard. Not caw, caw, caw, but more like chickens fighting or something:) Is
this a mating ritual for crows? Maybe one is female and the other 2 are
male?

Thanks for any info! It's a very strange ritual, LOL!

I sometimes hear a soft cackle from them.

Blue jays have a wide calling vocabulary. From the common scream,
down to a soft tweeter, all the way to a good hawk imitation (although
I'm positive they can tell the real thing LOL ) .
