Post subject: Cross posting to alt.food.vegan : *Please* Stop : You too Jonathon Ball
Archived from groups: alt>food>vegan, others (more info?)

Hi;

alt.food.vegan is being overrun with cross postings that have nothing
to do with the subject of the group : vegan food.

Its seems like most of these postings are cross posted from
alt.animals.ethics and talk.politics.animals where the subject does
seem like it is okay to debate the questions of vegetarianism.

Will people in these groups please stop cross posting to
alt.FOOD.vegan.

Its about food.

Johanthon Ball, your cooperation in particular would be particularly
appreciated.

Steve

Really? And you were elected as hall monitor when? As a note, here's a
quote from an *unofficial* faq, dreamed up in '99...

"...What is the purpose of the alt.food.vegan newsgroup?

Alt.food.vegan is a forum for anyone with an honest interest in issues
of concern to vegans. There are many types of vegan represented on this
group. While a topic is not relevant to the group merely because a vegan
is interested in it, it is relevant if the issue reflects a motivating
factor in becoming vegan. These issues include, but are (as always) not
limited to: vegan health, vegan foods, vegan recipes, vegan products,
animal rights or welfare, organic farming, and environmental issues..."

As to the group itself, there is no charter, and that is really the only
limiting factor as to on-topic/off-topic posting.
But then again, by your own reckoning, *your* post is off topic, eh?

actually, what I'd like to see an end to on this list is all the spam asking
if I'd like a bigger schlong or some new investment scheme. I'd even
consider taking JB's ramblings any day of the week over the constant barrage
of spam this group's been slammed with the past few weeks (& yes, I've been
using filters to try to weed out all the offenders).

though it hasn't seemed as bad the last few days.

I agree. Although it is a bit fascinating that there are that many guys
out there that have size issues.

I'd just like to find a way to filter out the ones that come in some kind
of wierd code or foreign language that my clunky old computer can't
handle. Even filters don't help me. I'm getting a new computer in
a few months. Can't WAIT.

Do you have url for this "unoffical faq" or some other kind of
citation for it?

Assuming the "unoffical faq" exists, who wrote it? Do those people
have any kind of special ownership of alt.food.vegan? Do they still
participate in it?

I can tell you that the people who do participate in alt.food.vegan,
as per the subject implied by the title aren't interested in threads
crossposted from alt.animal.ethics.vegetarian or talk.politics.animals
that exist merely to amuse trolls.

Next to none of this fits Jonathan Balls posts.......which are
legitimate in other groups, but no one in alt.food.vegan wants to
read.

Please...., I wrote pleasse.....don't crosspost here.

Quite a few of those cross-posts have been about vegan food and the
search for micrograms (or parts per billion). As such, they're on-topic.

It's. "Its" is possessive for "it." :-)

There's no "Johanthon Ball" posting to any of the groups you cross-posted.

It's in the newsgroup alt.food.vegan, dolt. Do you even know how to use
your computer for anything but complaining?
just google the group and faq.

It was a discussion in the group a.f.v. stupid. Try a little research once
in ahile before you look too stupid. ooops, too late...
They had/have no more ownership than you do. Get the point yet?

Really? In no one in a.f.v is interested then why do they reply? I suggest
you take another poll of everybody in the world that has ever posted to
a.f.v and then see what they really say. As it is, I doubt that you've
really asked anybody, so don't try speaking for the group.

Please spell his name correctly, he may get upset. Correct spelling is - C

Speak for yourself, sir. I've been both lurking and posting at afv for
some time, and I've learned to move on to the next thread when I come
across one that doesn't interest me.

Bad logic, as always from you. The presence of lots of
spam for big schlongs (it actually should be spelled
"schlange", which is German for snake) does not mean
there are that many men out there with size issues.

You seem to be ahead of me in that area.

My point was that such documents don't mean a thing, but you are one
of those people ( trolls? ) who get their satisfaction from enflaming
forums, like Jonahtan Ball.

This thread was meant for the reasonable people in aaev and tpa to ask
them to stop inadverntly helping these sad mentalties by no longer
cross posting to afv.

As for you I suggest a satisfying career, rewarding social
relationships, self esteem or whatever it is you are missing.

Those things take a lot more work ( and courage ) then being vitriolic
on purpose, gratuitiously over usenet, but you will be much happier in
the end.
