Have posted a few times and appreciate the help.
Our new beagle has a new friend . . . in the form of a full grown rabbit
that's taken up residence under our back deck. When we let Capone out, he
just goes nuts. He'll stay out there for 8 hours if we let him, sniffing n
barking and carrying on. I don't mind, but he seems to have worn his fur off
right under his nose...it's all pink ! ! ! I don't know if this will hurt
him. He doesn't seem to be sore.
I don't know if I should just let him work this out. He's only six
months old.. very healthy and happy. I hate to ruin his fun. He's not really
bothering anyone (well except that poor rabbit) but I'm not sure if the worn
off hair will cause him trouble. And as we live in Chicago southern burbs,
it's cold out. I dont know how long he should be out there. We have a doggy
door for him so he can come and go as he likes and I just thought if he was
really cold he come in on his own, but don't know for sure. He sure seemes
fixed on that rabbit while he's out there.
Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks in adavnce guys/gals.

Our Beagle Mia does the same thing. She sniffs the wood pile, and then under
the pile of Railroad ties. If there's a critter there she lets us know.
She thinks she's a hunting dog, but she's really just a 'city dog'.

Since he's a hunting dog, my guess is that his idea of "working it out" is to
stay there until he can kill the rabbit. As long as the rabbit is living under
your deck, I wouldn't let him go out at will, nor would I let him stay out as
long as he wants. He doesn't have a "winter coat" like dogs that are bred to
live in very cold conditions.

.......uhm, if you have houses within shouting distance, yes he is bothering
someone. Don't let him carry barking and barking. You'll have the cops
dropping in on you.

Nope.... all three of our neighbors have dogs and they all chase and bark.
None of us complain. But I know what you mean and I do want him to be
quieter. He only seems to really get going if he catches the rabbit outside
the deck and gives chase. I think he's getting used to it being under there
as far as barking is concerned.

Well, let me tell you, your Wits' End
Dog Training Method works.
My dog, Dasie, Loves to chase chameleons
around the barbecue on the patio. I
used this system on four different occasions.
When she went out today, she looked
everywhere else but the barbecue.
Amazing, just amazing.
I will write to Amanda about the video.
I am really excited to learn more, and
understand. Maybe just a little reassurance
that I am going about it the right way.
Thanks again
Paul
