I'm not sure why you're asking, but she's 6 years old. I know her
bladder is well-developed, but I just like her to empty it in the
morning before I give her total freedom to run around both the upstairs
and downstairs of the house. After I feed her her wet food in the
evening (6:30 pm), we sit around the living room watching TV or reading
until 9:00 pm. She frequently gets up and wanders into the family room
looking for something to chew on. I used to get up and follow her, but I
don't do that anymore. Is that the freedom and semi-supervision you're
talking about? Anyway, finally about two weeks ago, she got up, wandered
into the family room about 8:30 pm, went out the pet door, peed, and
came back in. Yippee!! She'd never done that before. I guess that means
she's house-broken. For months I've been in that situation that I see
other people post about where they don't know if their dog is really
house broken or if they just have them on a really good schedule. Now
that it's been 6 months since her last "accident", I finally feel like I
have my answer.

I'm sure that it'll work out, though with one or two foibles.
Maybe had many more "mistakes" than did puppy Rocky and was not
reliable at night until she was about 6 months old. (She was
still uncrated - I just watched my step in the morning.)
I'm thinking that girls are more difficult to housetrain than
boys. Boy puppies seem to give more indication. Girls quickly
squat'n'pee.

The only accidents we ever have are poop! She holds her urine very
well, and always pees when asked when I take her out. Her pooping is a
bit different, because of her privacy thing. So I have found a poop
behind a piece of furniture. She poops very fast, so a trot down the
hall to get her goose and back again, could result in a little pile,
with the speed of light.
We have another issue though. Marcie carries her blanket around and
chews on the tag. This morning, she was doing just that, when I
realized that the Dyson cord was under the blanket and was the object of
the teeth.
The Dyson is now off at the shop getting a new cord. That's what I get
for sitting right next to her, looking right at her, and assuming things
were status quo.
The cord was not plugged in and we have some Bitter Apple gel that we'll
do some setups with, as well as treat any cord in the bedroom prior to
2/1.
Oh yeah - her goose has a little spot of blood on it. 16 weeks old
today, I believe we are experiencing the first tooth loss - wahoo!

I think Marcie is going to do pretty well at this point, because she
sleeps like a rock from 10p-6a+. On weekends, she sleeps until
6:45/7:00, but she gets up with DH's alarm during the week. If one of
us gets up in the middle of the night for any reason, she doesn't make a
peep. Quite a change from her first night. Whew that was rough. She
sleeps in a large (36") mesh crate right now though, so she has pretty
good digs.

Poops are the night time accidents I mostly had with Maybe. The
urge used to stike silently - at about 6 months she became very
vocal about her need to go out. Woe on me the few times I
ignored her!

Many of Maybe's puppy teeth got knocked out a little too early,
what with her playing with the other dogs. There was sometimes
a little more than a spot of blood; I had to check all bloodied
dogs carefully to make sure the blood spatters were more than
incidental.

Maybe sleeps on the bed. When younger, though, she left the bed
without a fuss and pooped down the hot air vent next to the back
door.
The downside of Maybe sleeping on the bed is that Friday doesn't
anymore.

I think I'm glad that I don't have floor vents!
Marcie will be confined to the bedroom though, as a side effect of the
cats being banned from sleeping in the bedroom.

This must be one of those things that sound extremely funny when it happens
to someone else. Looking on the bright side, at least you didn't have to
search long and hard to find what she had done.

My problem pooch will sleep in his upstairs crate from 9-6 with nary a peep
after he's been put to bed with his peanut butter covered nyla bone. In
fact, we stayed up late last night reading and promptly at 9 p.m. he went in
his crate without being asked. I still haven't replaced the downstairs one
since even in the cold weather he'd rather be out on the pool cover soaking
up the steam.
His mother (Sugar) however, gets up with me each time I get up so I wind up
letting them both out for a promenade 'round the grounds to stir up the
night creatures lurking in the woods.
Truman depending on his mood and wether or not he wants to get out of bed
sometimes joins them. But as eldest dog he reserves the right to stay on
the pillow.
Today someone killed a cardinal. I think it was Sugar because she came
upstaris and barfed in the bedroom. Even with bells on all their collars
she still manages to get one now and again. I should have named her Diana,
goddess of hunt.
