What is being done,if anything,to curb the Cowbird problem.
With the decline in many species, it would seem to me that something
could be done to prevent them replacing other birds.

Harry, if you can find a way to identify and monitor all the hidden cavity
nests in your neighborhood/town/county/state/country/nation where a Cowbird
might drop an egg or two, you'd have a leg up on pitching all the bogus
eggs, but it wouldn't be a patch on what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

there is "stuff" going on out there that is not always our reponsibility.

I cringe when I see Blue Jays rob nests for food, but if they take the
biggest juiciest Cowbird hatchlings, its another story... pests controlling
pests.

Think the best and deal with the rest.

Ah yes, outside the USA is different. Starlings are not protected here
either, I'm not sure about HOSP's though. Wow, RWBB's are a problem up
there?

IMHO the RWBBs are no problem but maybe the farmers have an issue with them.
There're certainly fairly abundant. I have no idea why the'd be left off the
protected list. American crows too, now that I think about it.
