I was driving to the store and found a wild cottontail in the middle
of the road. Looked like it had been run over and both its back legs
were broken.

So I brought it home (I was only a block or two away) and made some
phone calls (one to Larie who got me calmed down enough to start
thinking). We got a box with some hay in it and were about to take it
to Southlake, when it started convulsing, and just stopped moving. I
watched it for a while but it was clearly not breathing any more.

We asked him to lookup Munchkin for us when he gets to the bridge.

Joe

Joe - that sounds awful. It must have been so hard to watch the bunny
in pain and suffering. I'm glad too that the bunny got to be with
someone caring and loving in its lasts moments. Sedgewick says thank
you for looking over her kin and doing what you could - you're a caring
soul.

Oh Joe, I am so sorry. Jon and I both prayed for the poor little thing and
for you all. I suspected it had been hit by a car and its time was short.

I've rescued animals from the side of the road before and know that panic,
horror and helplessness that washes over you as you try to do what you can
to alleviate its pain and just help, even when you know you can't.

I'm glad it didn't die in the middle of the road. God bless you for trying.

Oh dear, how awful. The poor thing must have had some internal injuries
or something. Death convulsions are not pretty. You did a good thing
thoough, by letting the poor thing die in safety.

Hi Laurie,
Yes - we are fostering a Dutch called Jake. If he and Sedgewick can
bond, then we will keep him. It's going to be tough because the hoomins
have fallen in love with him and Sedgewick is coming around much
slower!

Hang in there, it takes a while but it's worth it.
