I have a black moor and a fantail currently in a quarantine tank. I noticed
that the black moor is not a very good swimmer compared to the fantail.
Specifically, the current created by a penguin filter and airstone poses no
problems to the fantail but pushes the moor around. If I lower the air-flow
rate from the airpump, the moor can swim without any problems at all. This
concerns me because the main tank is larger, but has two bigger penguin
filters, a bubble wand and two airstones (although their arraingement may
offset each other somewhat).
Is this inability to swim with a current a sign of weakness or the norm for
this breed?
The water parameters are excellent, ph 7.2, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates
5ppm, 75deg F. >> Stay informed about: Concerns about Black moor |

Turn it down and let him "recover" for a bit. Turn it up slowly and see if he
can
adjust. My Moors seem to do ok with strong currents, and actually enjoy swimming
against
it. >> Stay informed about: Concerns about Black moor |
