That old age *sigh*... his right leg is getting more wonky. It seems that it
is his knee that isn't stable, so his right leg goes underneath and to the
left. When he walks, he often ends up laying over on his side. So far, he
has endured it patiently, but I cried this morning. It seems to have gotten
a little worse this week. I fear for when he can't walk anymore. I pray God
will take him home before this happens. I just couldn't euthanize this happy
and otherwise healthy boy. He is so loving and happy with his daily
activities, though somewhat more tired of the mobility effort. I just
keeping him going outside to exercise. I tried to explain it to him this
morning. He was licking the tears off my face :)

Please say a pray for the boy.

God Bless,
Arlette & Cocoa (don't worry mommie)

We will keep Cocoa in our nightly prayers. When Mr. Patches lost his leg I
eventually became his legs and carried him everywhere, including outside to
his favorite clover patch. Even the last five months when he had very
little mobility I would bring him his food and water throughout the day. I
don't think he suffered from quality of life issues as he liked all the
attention.

Thanks Rich,
I don't mind all the extra care he would need, but with working, I don't
think I would be around enough to give the level of intensive care to keep
him peeing and clean and move him out of the sun etc. So far, he gets to the
litter box himself for peeing and can go where he wants. I don't know what
I'll do if he can't do that.
But, we'll see.

God Bless,
Arlette & Cocoa

Thanks Beth...I don't mind helping Cocoa more, but as I said to Rich. I'm
just not here enough to do all those things. I would worry while at work if
he was getting stuck somewhere or if he had soiled himself etc. I just can't
see it.

The only thing I've done so far beside anti-inflammatories and glucosamine
is to keep him exercising and massaging him. What else can I do?

I've heard lots about carts on OREO and disabled buns, but they are very
expensive. I see Cocoa's front feet looking like he has fallen arches too.
His whole body is strained because of his leg.
Anyway...any suggestions are welcome.

God Bless,
Arlette & Cocoa

Hi Arlette,

Just noticed an advert in a magazine we get here in UK advertising a book
called 'The Relaxed Rabbit' - Massage for your pet bunny. It says massage
helps with :-

*behaviour issues
*increases range of motion
*reduces tension, inflammation, and pain
*Accelerates recovery
*Strengthens immunity

You can order book online at www.beal-net.com/laluna/relaxedrabbit.html

Just a thought, may help,

Best Wishes,

Sue (Pepsi & Opal)

Happy thoughts and positive staying well vibes for Cocoa from us. I think
that you and Cocoa know that you will not let him suffer in any way and
will make his life as comfortable as possible. He has the best bun-mom,
for sure. Carla and Claire.

Awwww Arlette. We never want them to leave us...not ever. And it's quite
obvious Cocoa isn't interested in going anywhere!

I know you'll do everything you can to ensure Cocoa's golden years are
golden...platinum even! :-) A wonky leg is an inconvenience...sounds like
the rest is working just fine!

Hugs for you and Cocoa both Arlette!

Cocoa's Excellent Adventure Part 2 - Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the good wishes for Cocoa's journey. I'm now at my brother Derek's apt, on his 'puter. Cocoa's car ride went ok, though he seemed stressed a lot of the time: nose going a mile a minute and hot ears. I'm so glad we got the air...
