I have a grey named "Cleo", I got him from a friend not long after he had
recovered from a bacterial virus. He had plucked all of his feathers,
except his head and wings. When we got him his down had just started to
come in. My question is how long will it take for his outer feathers to
come in. We've had him since January 2003, his down is fairly thick now.

You will have to wait until he moults and hope for the best. He may never
grow proper feathers again.
in the meantime provide the best diet you can to encourage feather growth.
This means a quality seed diet with hardly any sunflower. I understand a
brand called 'volkmanns' is the one to buy in USA. Provide also calcium rich
food and fresh fruit and veg daily.Calcium rich foods are cottage cheese,
yogurt, and plenty of dark green leafy things like broccolli. Also carrots
and sweet potatoes etc for vitamin A, which helps maintain the immune
system.

At the suggestion of someone on this group, I ordered Volkmanns -
can't now remember the name of specific mix - it is probably at least
80% sunflower seeds. Needless to say I was very disappointed and will
never purchase it again. I would be very happy if someone can give
suggestions for good quality, sunflower seed free mix. The Volkmanns
did seem to be a quality mix but...

I looked back at invoice: AVSS Parrot - the mix recommended by
someone in this group.
