Are there any big city lab owners out there? How do labs fare in the city?
Noises, walks, people, small apartments, etc.?

I am considering a lab, but am unsure.

If you are getting a lab, get a smaller one. Mine will be 45 to 50 lbs or
so when full grown. His 3 lab dog park buddies are 70 lbs or more. Labs
vary a lot in size.

PS Don't neglect the shelters. You may find a city proofed lab or lab X
just waiting for you.

Thanks, but I think that we are giving up on the idea. There just is no
park, and walking it would be a cold hell where we live. Someday we'll have
that house in the country. I've heard some CREATIVE ideas over time, but
they don't work for us.

LABS really do require more than a walk. They love people and contact. I am
trusting that you will reconsider. Really, they are nudges!!! I just put my
down, a few days go, lots of pain and he was a lot of work. For me - well
worth it, however I am retired. I have had dogs in the past but for me he
was the best, but don't deprive him/her, just because you want a dog.
They are beautiful and it becomes emotional, but don't do it to yourself and
the dog JUST for personal needs. I am going to wait a t least 6 months, but
I will go for a LAB (rescue) again. He was truly the best friend I ever had.

I wouldn't consider anything but a rescue. (Not all rescue organizations
have shelters.)
