We dont know what to do, our labrador (4 1/2 y.o) has been chewing his toe,
legs quite often over the last month. He has been doing it so oftten that
one of his legs is red, and the other has a red point on it. He has also
been scratching too much. What can it be? I mean, the reasons. Could it
be allergies, anxiety? Any ideas would be welcome.

What brand of dogfood are you feeding him? What else are you giving as
treats? Are you bathing him, and if so, with what?

Dont bath ur lab, dont feed him garbage food (anything with corn meal in
it), labs have a lot of skin problems anyways and allergies to things, dont
provoke it by bathing or trash food, cheeper isnt always better.

Our lab is allergic to house dust mite She takes anti histamine tablets
each day, and (unfortunately) steroids. We have got the steroids down
to half a tablet every other day, with an occasional three day break.
Whilst it is more or less under control now, she does still have bad
periods where she is itching scratching and chewing, but these are a bit
further between now. We have been told by our vet that half a steroid
tablet every other day is not going to affect her as I was worried about
it decreasing her life span.

It seems labs are particularly prone to allergies. She also gets a
similar thing to hayfever at a certain time of year.

Have you had a skin test done, or seen the vet about this yet?
