Please can you help?

I have a male lab which is now 12 months old.

I seem to have difficulty keeping the dogs attention as he seems more
interested in his surroundings than me, although he will play with me when
indoors!

I have tried treats and toys to work until he sees another dog. Once he sees
a dog he will run straight accross roads etc to get to it! No matter how
many times I shout him he won't come back.

This is very frustrating indeed, and sometimes i fear for his safety.

Please help.

Thank you.

Dean Spencer.

Labs are great big overgrown pups for at least two years, probably
three. Getting into trouble is what they do best, and they are good
at it.

Buster, my 3 1/2 yr. old is just starting to settle down.

You have to mind them constantly. Don't let him off his leash,
just a moment of inattention and he's gone.

He will come around soon enough.

We have a lab that turns three in May, he is quite the 'child' too in many
ways he is just like our three year old boy...He loves trouble and if you
dont watch him hes into everything.

Must just be in their nature

I agree. I have a yellow lab that just turned 3 a week ago and she is
still a puppy. She was the same way with other dogs and people but
with allot of training she is very good about staying in the yard. We
spent afternnons with her everyday for along time to get the training
she needed.
