Archived from groups: alt>pets>ferrets (more info?)

Hi-
I recently (in Feb) lost a ferret (Koto) due to multiple health
conditions. She had a good long (7 yrs) life and was a very sweet
girl.
Since then her life long cage-mate (Stoli) started exhibiting new and
odd habits. I realize she is bored in her cage and longs for her cage-
mate, but I as much as I wish I could bring Koto back- I can not and
getting a new ferret is not an option at this time.
She has started to dump her food from her dish all over her cage
making a mess of things, including getting it into her water. She is
also digging at the carpeting and always wants to come out. Funny
thing is once she gets let out, she either goes back into her cage to
eat, or finds a warm snuggly piece of clothing in the bottom of my
closet to sleep in. She is over 7 and does not play much any more.
I try to give her lots of out time and lots of love. Her cage has
plenty of tubes for her to play in too.
What else can I do to comfort her?????

Pooping Behavior Change - We have a 4-year-old ferret who has lived with us for two years. She has two cages connected by tubing; one has a litter box in it, the other (the one with the door she uses to get in and out of the cage when we open it) just has newspaper covering the....

Did Zupreem change their formula? - A few months ago, I decided to give Zupreem a try. The first bag I got seemed okay. But then, every bag I've gotten since then has been 'different'. The food doesn't smell very good, the pieces are much smaller and darker, and there are a lot more..

Odd Behavior During Nail Clipping - Here's a question for you. Both of my fuzzies do this. When I'm clipping their nails, and they give me a hard time, sometimes I have to scruff them. Usually after this, they'll start licking the back of the hand that's closest to their mouth. Why? :D ....

unacceptable behavior, or just fair play? - I had both ferrets out to play in the bedroom. They sometimes play rough, wrestling and biting at each others necks. They never draw blood or scream, and I've read that's natural and ok. Today however, I heard a high-pitched whistle/whine/yell - not..
