Ever see a cat that feels almost in bliss watching you eat?

They squint their eyes in satisfaction.

Why do they do that?

They are making themselves cute in hopes you will slide something their way.
My current cat won't eat any people food, but I had cats when I was growing
up who would seem to develop eyelashes, and squint and blink at us under the
table.

and speaking of cute. my last and current kitty kompanion (both females)
does this, what i call, their "come hither look". she doesn't want my food
but she wants to remind me that she's waiting for me to fill up her bowl.
she lays on her back and curls her spine in an almost "C" shape, has front
paws together over her chest in a begging style and she looks away.

Naw...I figured it out. You're the alpha cat and they are acknowledging
that. It is a subtle act of clan ettiqutte that they wait for the alpha
dominant of the pack (You) to have their fill.

Actually I don't think that cats have anywhere near the same "pack
mentality" that dogs do.

Nevertheless...I think that cats acknowledge you as the prime alpha
and are content to sit at times wait, squinty eyed and pleased.

That is...if they are not famished.

One of my two cats wants my food. And last week when I got up from the table
to get the phone, she got herself a porterhouse steak. I had to laugh, she
looked at me as if to say, " Man this is great! I hope you bought more of
these."

3 cats? - I already have 2 cats, a female, approx. age 3 yrs., a male, approx age 1.5 yrs, they have both been neutered and get along well (for cats, I guess). My question is, would another cat upset the mix? should it be a female or male (altered of course). I..

I have 5 cats. - Well 2 cats and three four month old kittens. I got them all from the cat protection ppl. They came with a form saying I have to have them spayed/neutered at six months. The thing is the female is long haired and good looking so I could make a mint from...

Why do cats..... - Does anyone know the 'REAL' reason behind cats that [while being cuddled] like to try and bite the very end of our noses. All I can think of is they don't like the air that comes out when we exhale? Anyone? Nat :-)

new to alt.cats - hi I am new to this group and wanted to say hi. also I want to tell you a little about myself. I am 23 live in Bakersfield Cali and I am exspecting a little girl toward the end of February. I hope to hear from you all soon.

All Cats Day - I was sick all day, really sick. I remembered the first cat I had, that only lasted a couple of days with our dogs. 25 years later I got another, a sort of gift, tricked into adoption really. Kidder (original name Thumper) was my friend for 10 years. I....
