As tomorrow is the 5th anniversary fo the WTC tragedy I was reminded
of a story that I saw on the news that they actually used cats in the
search for remains in the aftermath. But for the life of me I can't
find anything on that story on the interent. Did anyone else hear of
that story, and if so where can I find a reference tot that. I want
to send it to some friends.
Thanks >> Stay informed about: Cats At Work The WTC |

Now I am not sure but the term CATS were used by the NYPD, I always thought
they were like an advanced SWAT team.

The more I think of it, and with all due respect to the OP as the query is a
decent one ,it is quite surreal to imagine taking cats to the twin towers in
the aftermath of what happend is it not. I played a D12 CD the other day
and the sound of a gunshot on CD forced my Tom to bolt out of the room to
seek refuge in the kitchen behind the washing machine.

Nope this was cats/felines being used to search for the remains. It
was on tv and they showed a cat in a carrier. As silly as it seems I
did see this story. Honest

Was it on April 1st?
Seriously, with dogs so well suited as sniffers what on earth could a cat

With no clavicles, a cat can get into places a dog could only dream of
reaching, in terms of collapsed building rubble. With a GPS attached
to the collar, the location could then be followed on-screen. With a
little web-cam attached, the survivors, if any, could be identifed as
living or not. The cat only has to wander and explore, which is in
their nature anyway.
