One thing that I really can’t stand, is otherwise perfectly
normal people proudly informing me that they hate cats. Am I
supposed to be impressed? If you ask these people why, they will
tell you that cats are stupid. These are the same people who like
small dogs, football, and sniggering at rude jokes. Sometimes they
will tell you that cats are aggressive, i.e all teeth and claws. I
myself have been attacked by a dog, and personally, I would take my
chances with the cat. There are others still who will look horrified
if you mention the word ‘cat’ and say ‘oh! They kill
little furry animals!’ You would get a very odd look indeed if
you were to point out either that that’s what they need to do in
the wild, or that humans kill not only little furry things, but big
furry things, pets, and occasionally, people.
Someone please explain to me the real reason why these people
don’t like cats, because the reasons they give can’t be
the whole truth. >> Stay informed about: Cat haters |

I am personally offended when someone says "‘" in mixed
company--especially if my daughter and that ’ boyfriend of hers that
she met at that ‛ meeting are present in the room.
Most people hate cats because they just don't &$%#8220 them and don't want
them inside the F#*ing &%# house.
I love cats. And that's the !$$#@&# truth. And I care who the f#&k knows
it.

People who hate cats were probably rats in a
previous life. :-)
I say different strokes. Doesn't bother me anymore
than someone who doesn't like chocolate. Their
loss.

I read a beautiful cat-saying somewhere on the net which I found more then
truthful:
BEWARE PEOPLE WHO DISLIKE CATS
It has been proven that most serial killers started their career as serial
animal killers. Police and FBI now wants to compile a database of any child
found to have been killing animals for the future record, which potentially
will escalate to killing humans. Those who really hate animals have no love
or respect for anything or anyone. Avoid those people. They have no heart.
If you see them hurting animal, report them to police/R/Aspca.
But do make a difference when someone says "I hate cats, but love dogs"
those people generally love animals, just never lived with a cat. Those can
be proven their misfortune by introducing to a friendly feline. I did this
with few of my friends. Also people who are scared of animals generally do
not actually hate them, they are just weary of them so need more contact
with pets to kill the phobia. Those people are usually not bad either, they
just had a bad experience at some point in their life, like a bite or
scratch.

Actually it makes almost perfect sense - I say almost because some of
the characters represented by the HTML entity codes are not
grammatically appropriate. I don't see a meaning for ‛, but I
don't have the entire ISO code list available.
"’" -- right single quotation mark
"‘" -- left single quotation mark

I love telling these people that cats demand respect, dogs just give it
willy nilly. Usually shuts them up pretty quick. One person told me that
when he comes home his dog is there waiting to love on him and his cat
ignores him. I told him that's because the dog doesn't care who loves him, a
fish could love him and he'd be happy. A cat you have to respect and he's
not doing that.
One of my bits starts out like this "If dogs are smarter than cats, then why
do we have to earn a cats respect?" Just tell them that next time someone
tells you a dog is smarter.

My cat plays with biting and swiping but not to hurt it's just play. Yes
some cats are aggressive but if you do a good job they wont be.

Prolly because the cat is always smaller than a Bull Mastif right? ;)

My husband wasn't a cat person either until he brought home one for me and
then the second. Now he loves them. The best way to combat people like that
is to tell them they'd think differently if it was their own animal.

I think it's mainly they grew up with dogs and it's the whole stigma of "Dog
is man's best friend" more like slobbery best friend IMO. My husband still
wants a pug *wrinkles nose* but our cats are so frightened of dogs now I
don't think we'll ever be able to have a dog while their around.

Some people hate cats because they aren't dogs.
They hate them because cats seem to play on their social and psychological
insecurities and inadequacies.
They hate them because they are simplistic, petty-megalomaniacs who believe
that humans are superior to animals - so animals should defer to humans - in
the fashion of say, a dog.
They hate them for the same reason that they hate people whom they perceive
to be snobs.
They hate them because dogs are sycophantic towards them, so they don't feel
ostracized and stigmatised.
But they fail to see the irony of the fact that dogs are sycophantic to
EVERYONE.
In short, they hate cats because they can't lord it over them or get the
better of them.
Basically, cats simply make them feel like inadequates.

Let me coin a phrase: Bullshit!
Some people hate cats for the same reason some people hate Dodge, or Ford,
or rock and roll, or c/w, or French cut green beans, or TV preaching, or
Hillary Clinton, or abortion doctors, and so forth and so on. It is merely
a matter of personal preference.
If your assessment were true, then my reason for loving cats would be
opposite to those same reasons that you state.
I know for a fact that humans are superior to animals, and that animals must
defer to humans. If you think differently, then hand your cat a can opener
and tell her to fix her own snack. When she get's sick, tell her to drive
herself tot he vet. You will find out very quickly who is superior and who
isn't. Lordy, lordy.
I love my cats, but they don't make me feel any more adequate than do my
goldfish or the cucumber patch growing in the back yard. And if their
perceived snobbery is supposed to be appealing, then I'm missing the thrill
of that virtue.
Most people who love cats are weird. Look around you at your own cat-loving
friends and see if you don't admit that by-and-large they are a group of
utterly strange folks. They are prolly all overweight or getting that way.
They seldom have people over because there's no place for visitors to sit
without getting cat hair on their clothing. They spend more time grooming
the cats than they do combing their own hair.
There are exceptions: Me for example. I am a perfectly adjusted and
attractive male with an incredible physique, a beautiful wife, an upscale
home, a thriving profession and a housefull of snobbish and demanding cats
who can take me or leave me.

Cannot agree more. Superb explanations. And I believe tottally true,
(especially after reading Geno's reply).
I will save your post and keep it in my "cat stuff" folder where I keep any

Thanks. I'm sure I will need it when coming across humans who need
educating.

He he. I know what you mean. It seems like he's gonna join Bob Brenchley

decent replies in the past. He just doesn;t like anyone who differs with his
opinions and turns brenchley on him/her. Oh well some people just can;t

I wish you two women would stop insulting me. It's terribly rude of you.
My feelings are deeply hurt and it may take me weeks to get over it.
In the meantime, I don't recall you disagreeing with me on anything. I do,
however, remember disagreeing with you and that scumbag woman or wotever who
thinks that people hate cats because cats are superior. What a crock that
is, eh?
Or was it you who said that cats are superior because they can catch mice?
Now that was funny, and you weren't even trying.
Hell, bats can catch mosquitoes on the fly. Does that make them superior
also?
