Howdy all,
We have a really nice mare in our barn that came to us wild as can be
as a 2 year old from a Canadian horse meat auction in Dawson. She is a
black pinto, fantastic mane and tail. She looks very, very spanish
mustang in type. small, Shy, agile as a cat, yet the most intelligent
and dominant horse on our ranch. We registered her with the Pinto
registry, but this seems a shame since it is very apparent that she is
a very pure mustang, not just a feral farm horse.
I was wondering if anyone here can tell us where to have her tested?
This mare has been just great in the show ring, and is now throwing
amazing 1/2 mustang foals (to heck with papers if we cannot get them we
know what she is!) She is quite similar in type to the pinto mustang on
the home page here. It would be nice to have her bred with a mustang of
similar origin and have the Canadian blood line preserved this way.
We have a 477 acre quarter horse ranch in South Central Alaska. It
borders on a wildlife refuge. So we have the space to try to do this.
The half foals are fantastic, but it makes me sad that we cannot save
her pure heritage and document it. It seems worth saving.
Thank you for your time, Regards, Flo Pitcher, Pitcher Ranch Alaska
