Some of you may have read that Nona is coming to Thunder Bay to visit Cocoa
and I...mainly Cocoa of course :)

I guess you could call it Bunfest 'Far North', well the bun part is right
since there will only be one bun there. LOL

I'm really looking forward to Nona's visit and I hope to show her a few
sights of the frozen city.
You'll be happy to learn Nona, that the temperatures here have gone up
considerably the past day or two. Next week looks to be fairly mild, so I
won't have to get out the bear skins for your to wear ;)

Nona will be staying at a hotel on the waterfront with quite a lovely view.
If anyone would like to see the view, here is the webcam shot located on the
top of the hotel.
http://www.thunderbay.ca/marinawebcam/

I'm sure Nona will post to tell you about her adventure. Cocoa is pretty
psyched!!

So is Nona!

I am going to consult with my friend who ran the North Pole marathon on
how to cope with temps of -20 to -40!

Arlette,

Why do you think no one (or bun) is flocking to join us???

Could it be the subzero temps and the 1000-mile distance???

Nawww, they are all very rugged bunny slaves! I think they've heard the
rumour that I'm not the best cook in the far north :)
I would think that meeting the sage Cocoa would be more than enough to lure
them. Aw well, you'll get the place to yourself.

It's quite balmy up here now. This week should be bearable.

Me and mine would face the frozen tundra of the north just to meet the
majestic Cocoa, bun legends are made of! Carla Liza and Jodie. And
Arlette, I am always hungry and would probably love your cooking since I
can't.

Carla and I could carpool - maybe Joe too!

I'm not a cook either - if it's placed in front of me I thank God and eat
it! (Unless it's stuffed bell peppers and then I just *can't*).

I would LOVE to come visit - it's the 1000 mile distance thtat's got me
stymied. Oh yeah, that and the travel funds! ;-)

Have fun you guys - I am VERY envious!

Laurie

Well Laurie,
You know the Chinese proverb about the journey of 1000 miles...it begins
with one step?? So, just start walking! ;)

The funny or frustrating thing is though, it is cheaper for almost any of
you to fly up here, than for me to fly to the southern area of my own
province or out west. GRRRRRRRRRR I can fly to Vegas for half the price of
what it costs me to fly down to see my mom.

I hope you all enjoy your visit. Nona is an awfully brave person to
willingly go somewhere as cold as where your from Arlette. Here in
the Northeast we have a week or two where the weather is in the single
digits during the daytime. Then the rest of the winter is isn't too
bad. maybe you'll have a heatwave during the visit LOL!

I hear you Beth :) That's why I've not gone anywhere in three years. Cocoa
is like having 18 buns :)

Well, you'll never believe it, but it's pouring rain outside now :P It will
cool down some, but I hate rain in winter. Hopefully, it won't turn into the
ice kingdom!

Greetings;

One way I've found to cope with -20 to -40 degree temperatures is to sit
closer to Hawaii. . But seriously, wearing layered clothing helps a lot.
I bought some warm military winter underwear and they certainly kept me cozy
warm while I shoveled snow in -25 degree weather. Even at -35 the previous
evening, I felt nice and warm wearing them under my jeans and heavy winter
coat. It's best to cover up as much exposed flesh as possible too.
Overdressing is good as well since you can always remove or unbutton
something.

Respectfully,

Bruce Atchison - author of Deliverance from Jericho (Six Years in a Blind
School) and When a Man Loves a Rabbit ((Learning and Living With Bunnies).
